Biography

Do-Nyun Kim received his BS and MS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University in 2000 and 2002, respectively, and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 2009. He was an instructor and full-time lecturer in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Korea Air Force Academy for 2002-2005. From 2009 to 2013, he worked as a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Biological Engineering at MIT. In 2013, he joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Seoul National University as an assistant professor.

His current research interests include finite element analysis of structural systems, efficient reduced order models, computational material models, mechanical metamaterials for vibration and wave control, and multiscale analysis and design of biomolecular materials.

He received the Future Technology Award from the Computational Structural Engineering Institute of Korea (COSEIK) in 2016. He is an active member of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers (KSME) and COSEIK. Currently, he is an editorial board member of Computers & Structures.
